We are proud to have supplied windows and doors for this unique PassivHaus by Gresford Architects that is now shortlisted for the Passive House Trust Award 2016. The Old Water Tower is inspired by the surrounding historic buildings in Chieveley, West Berkshire yet features a contemporary living space with great views over the fields.
The Old Water Tower is equipped with Idealcombi Futura+ triple glazed sliding doors with a slim 53 mm aluminium profile and a core of PUR for minimal thermal bridging. The large windows allow good solar energy gain minimising the cost of heating the house. Smaller windows are inward opening or fixed light Idealcombi Futura+i with the same external 53 mm aluminium profile to maintain the overall contemporary look of the building. Smaller windows are used in the north side of the building to reduce heat loss.
