“The brief was to extend a 1950s mixed use block in Gerrards Cross town centre overlooking the railway to provide a new maisonette and restaurant.”

“The development was designed to meet high energy efficiency requirements and the specification and detailing of the Futura+ and Futura+i windows and doors with their slender frames coupled with concrete surrounds evoked the original character of the block whilst achieving high performance requirements to meet our energy targets. The transformation of the site is achieved by the treatment of the elevation over the railway embankment where corner windows and a shift in the fenestration rhythm create a dramatic backdrop to this prominent corner of the town centre between the high street and railway.”

“Internally, we detailed splayed timber reveals that slotted into rebated Futura+ frames to minimise the frame visibility and create bright and unusual openings to the rooms.”
