The Vita Student project in York, was designed for Select Property Group by Fuse – on time and on budget and with a remarkable 99% occupancy. Wates Construction started the work on a Design & Build contract early 2015 and the completed project were ready for the start of the new academic year 2017.

Located within the grounds of the former Grade II listed St. Joseph Convent, the new “Student Village” provides 644 bedrooms across 15 new and 3 listed buildings. The project is Select Property’s largest completed student development to date.

The majority of the new buildings are clad in high quality facing brick work; with the exception of the Park buildings which are clad in pressure treated Scandinavian Redwood. The Idealcombi Futura+ timber aluminium composite side hung outward opening windows and sliding doors offer a virtually maintenance free solution for these maintained student appartments. The aluminium exterior and the unique Idealcore™ offer protection in all wet zones to the internal Scandinavian Redwood timber frames. The profile design offer a contemporary 53mm slim line uniform appearance, and this allow the side lines to match across the elevations. The protected nature of the student village allowed distinctive external staircases for each block to be used, allowing the residents to experience the landscaping and views across the city of York. Full height powder coated aluminium leaf pattern panels partially enclose the stair.

We are proud to be part of the York Vita Project – and as Vita Student calls it on the side of their bus “The UK’s best student accommodation experience”
