For the first time in 90 years new houses are being built in Leeds city centre – and the Climate Innovation District is setting new high standards for modern sustainable building.

Early June 2018 the first homes were built using the pre-fabricated Structural Insulated Panels – with the Idealcombi Futura+ windows already fitted. Fitting windows in factory conditions results in a higher quality finish with lower risk of errors. We have good results supplying windows to the pre-fab Urban Splash projects in Manchester and North Shields.

There will be greenery, public spaces, shared gardens where you can sit and relax, or just catch up with your neighbours.  The masterplan and designs were developed in collaboration with one of the world leaders in sustainable placemaking, White Arkitekter. The Swedish Architects are drawing on Scandinavian and European designs to create a more sustainable place to live.  Green spaces and a car free landscape with under croft parking will encourage walking, biking and outside play.

The Futura+ windows and sliding doors helps provide the required thermal properties for the highly controlled internal environment. Heat recovery systems and filtered mechanical air flow helps remove the requirement for central heating. Specific window G-values and wall design prevents the need for air-conditioning.
