Opening Window Over Fixed Light
This configuration combines an opening window above with a large fixed glazed section below, giving you practical ventilation without sacrificing natural light or the view.
Part of the Idealcombi Frame IC range, it combines the warmth of timber internally with a durable aluminium exterior and a clean, understated appearance.
The result is a window designed to bring together everyday functionality, generous glazing and the character of a traditional framed window.
Designed around the way you live
The combination of an opening side guided sash and fixed glazing gives you the best of both worlds: fresh air when you want it and an uninterrupted glazed area where an opening function isn’t needed.
- More natural light: The fixed lower section creates a generous area of glass, helping daylight reach further into your room.
- Easy ventilation: Open the upper sash whenever you want to introduce fresh air without opening the entire window.
- Easier cleaning: The side guided mechanism moves the sash away from the frame as it opens, allowing access to the outside of the glass from inside your home.
- A balanced appearance: Combining opening and fixed sections creates a clean window arrangement that works particularly well in taller openings.

In early 2023 we purchased triple glazed windows with powder-coated aluminium external frames and wooden internal frames for our house when we were retrofitting it to make it more thermally efficient. We have been delighted with the windows which look great and function brilliantly. They have helped to reduce our gas bill by 75%. The lead time from order to delivery is not quick and they are not a cheap option, but you get what you pay for and they were definitely worth the wait. We would definitely recommend Idealcombi.
