Moormill Barn
The Moormill Barn project is a modern rural home that combines traditional agricultural character with contemporary architectural detailing. Defined by its timber cladding, exposed structure and large areas of glazing, the design maximises natural light while creating a strong connection between the interior spaces and the surrounding countryside.
Idealcombi supplied a combination of Futura+ windows, IC Sliding door, and Nation IC doors for the project. The slim, dark frames provide a clean contrast against the warm timber façade, helping to emphasise the building’s sharp lines and modern barn aesthetic.
All products were specified with triple glazing and finished in RAL 9005 Black, giving the project a consistent, high-performance glazing solution throughout.
The window and door layouts were designed to frame open views, support natural ventilation, and bring daylight deep into the home. Large sliding doors enhance the transition between living spaces and outdoor areas, while the dark-framed glazing complements the exposed timber and contemporary rural setting.
The project has also been recognised by RIBA, appearing in the RIBA South Awards 2026 as House in a barn by Artel31. It received the RIBA South Award 2026, RIBA South Building of the Year 2026 sponsored by dormakaba, and RIBA South Sustainability Award 2026, further highlighting the strength of the design, its sensitive reuse of an agricultural structure, and its sustainable approach to contemporary rural living.
